A growing movement

Us commuters are weary, angry and distrustful of government; understandably. How can you blame us? Well one thing that's a sure sign of commuter sentiment is the proliferation of Facebook groups that are expressing sheer outrage and frustration at a total lack of leadership. They include:

  1. Protest against Melbourne's train system, Connex and Lynne Kosky.
  2. I hate Connex.
  3. A monkey with a pushbike would provide better service than Connex.
  4. Victorians for Proper Public Transport.
  5. It's time for great public transport in Melbourne and across Victoria.
  6. Paul Mees Appreciation Society.
  7. Hating Lynne Kosky.
  8. FUCK CONNEX.
  9. Stuff Connex.
  10. Bring back Melbourne's tram conductors
  11. Are you sick of overcrowding on Melbourne's trains?
  12. People who want much Much MUCH better Melbourne trains.
Of course, it's important to realise that some of these groups are just annoying whinging with little or no motivation to protest (or, at the very least, join the Public Transport Users Association; they're not expensive). Joining a Facebook group rarely involves some sort of serious thought and reflection; just the click of a button.
But for argument's sake, let's compare this to commuters angry at Vancouver's rail network. Perhaps they're just as irate as we are.
.. .........
........
..............................*searching*............
The result? No such groups exist. Vancouver's commuters are satisfied.

Finally, Lynne Kosky has given us commuters a real treat: we'll be getting one extra train go on the network this year. Hooray for leadership!!!1!

Someone told me that they heard last week that Melbourne is going to lease more trams. I haven't heard anything. Have you?

The business plan is in the post.

Kosky on a pushbike would make a lovely sideshow game at Moomba;)

One extra train for the whole year? Woah, slow down there, Ms. Kosky!

One extra train, how generous of you Ms Kosky you fuckwit! Like that is going to make any difference. Did anyone read that article on the City Loop in the age on monday, only running at half and in the Herald Sun yesterday it said connex wants to remove Frankston trains from the City Loop.

When is that protest on by the way?

When I read that the rail system can afford to double its services, while I am squeezed between patrons suffering from the 5pm workday BO epidemic, it angers my blood. I hate Connex! And Vline!

I've got my ear to the ground (Lynne Kosky's underground lair), Andrew...and all I can here is the fizzing sound of braincells being decimated.

I got it, Brian...but I don't like the idea of having a butty shop on every train.

It would indeed, Jayne. We should recommend it to the organisers.

Max, what are you talking about? Lynne Kosky is expanding our network at the most intelligent and socially-acceptable rate possible: 2km/hr.

Calm down, PlatinumEuro.

It angers me too, Luli. That's why I'm an activist in this field.

How can these Connex and Kosky people not realise how much people think they suck? Just because they're retarded is no excuse!

That's quite amazing really...but then again, we can hardly lay blame to those who are frustrated.
